Counts the days from 1 January to the given date, and shows how many days remain in the year. A leap year has 366 days.
This tool counts the days from 1 January to a given date. The result is the ordinal date, often called the day of the year. It is useful for gauging how far through a year a date falls, and for handling dates as a single number.
Here is the ordinal date, the day number of the date and the day number of 1 January in the same year. The 1 is added because 1 January counts as the first day rather than the zeroth.
A leap year gives February 29 days and the year 366. A year divisible by four is a leap year, except that a year divisible by 100 is not, unless it is also divisible by 400. So 2000 was a leap year while 1900 was not, and 2100 will not be.
27 July 2026 is the 208th day of the year. That leaves 157 days, and 2026 has 365 days in all.
January to June account for 31 + 28 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 30 = 181 days, and adding 27 gives 208.
From March onwards the ordinal date shifts by one between leap years and ordinary years. Comparing ordinal dates across different years calls for care on that account.
