PricePerplexity

Sonar is $1 per million input tokens and $1 output⁠[1]. Sonar Pro is $3 and $15, and Sonar Reasoning Pro is $2 and $8⁠[1]. Sonar Deep Research is $2 and $8, with $2 per million for citations, $3 per million for reasoning tokens and $5 per 1,000 searches on top of that⁠[1].

On top of the tokens there is a request fee, which is where Perplexity differs from everyone else in this list⁠[1]. Sonar is $5 to $12 per 1,000 requests and the Pro tiers are $6 to $14, varying with how much search context the request pulls⁠[1]. A token-only comparison against other providers will understate the bill.

Sonar Chat Completions has become the Agent API, and Sonar is supported until 27 September 2026⁠[1]. The Agent API serves models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Z.AI, Moonshot AI and NVIDIA at their own published rates with no Perplexity markup, billed per token with no per-request surcharge⁠[1]. Tool calls and sandbox sessions are charged separately⁠[1].
