「構成する」の英語（consist of と be made up of）

…で構成される：
consist of
be made up of

車は部品で構成される。つまり「車 consist of 部品」である。できあがったものを主語、その部品となるものを目的語にする。

The book consists of 100 pages.
その本は100ページから構成される。

The committee consists of 6 members.
委員会は6人で構成される。

上の例文は試験でよく出てくる。委員会は committee というが、この場合は単数形で用いる。committee は単数形・複数形両方とも使えるが、「…人で構成される」というときは単数にする。

The proteins are made up of amino acids.
タンパク質はアミノ酸から構成される。

Japan consists of four major islands.
日本は4つの主要の島からなる。

Japan consists of forty-seven prefectures.
日本は47都道府県からなる。
